The 2011-released Japanese animated film is directed by Makoto Shinkai who draws his inspiration from none other than the acclaimed film director, animator, and masterful storyteller Hayao Miyazaki. We have found multiple titles for this beautiful film, including the original ‘Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo’, Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below, and ‘Journey to Agartha’.

Shinkai also loves to present lively animated characters just like Miyazaki. His 2007-released film ‘5 Centimeters per Second’ is a great example of artistic genius. As a fantasy adventure film with elements of action and romance, the film ‘Children who Chase Lost Voices’ follows a young girl Asuna who spends most of her out-of-school time at her clubhouse up in a mountain, listening to mysterious sounds emanating from an old crystal radio, a memento from her deceased father.

Once on her way to the clubhouse, she met a dragon-like creature that tried to attack her but a mysterious boy named Shun saved her. Shun eventually killed the fearsome creature and tells the girl that he is from another country called Agartha and he came to this place in search of something. He then gave her blessings by kissing her forehead. Asuna then left the place by telling Shun that she will come back tomorrow. Shun, now alone, looks up at the stars and falls from the ledge to his death.
