Let’s check out what Netflix is offering in the month of August 2019. The list is very long with many exciting movies and web series to mark your calendar. 

While we intend to just highlight few and list others with no such preference, please take look at the end of this post to find the complete list.

A Ghost Story – On August 7

Director David Lowery’s 2017-released film “A Ghost Story”follows a deceased man’s spirit that remains stuck in his house after a fatal car crash. The soul of the man keeps wondering, as he desperately sees his wife moving on with her life, and a new family comes into the house. The ghost then goes on a journey with numerous question on life and our existence.

‘Badla’ – Bollywood thriller starring Amitabh Bachchan – August 7

Sujoy Ghosh-directed ‘Badla’ is a new crime-mystery thriller coming out of Bollywood, the Hindi film industry. The film is an official adaptation of the 2017 Spanish thriller “The Invisible Guest”. The Hindi version of the film was released earlier this year March 8 and had mostly received positive reviews from the critics. ‘Badla’ will be available for streaming on Netflix on August 7.

Wu Assassins – Season 1 – Coming on August 8

Starring Iko Uwais, “Wu Assassins” follows the story of an aspiring San Francisco chef Kai Jin, who becomes the latest in a long line of assassins chosen to keep the mystical Wu powers out of the wrong hands. It is believed to be an interesting tale with a mixture of martial arts, ancient powers, and supernatural elements.

Actor and martial artist Iko Uwais (“The Raid”) stars with Katheryn Winnick (“Vikings”), Lewis Tan and Tommy Flanagan. Netflix will start streaming “Wu Assassins” the series on August 8, 2019.

Ghostbusters (Answer the Call) – August 13

The 2016 supernatural comedy follows four women paranormal enthusiasts and their assistant in catching and hunting ghosts before these otherworldly entities bring an apocalypse to earth. Catch Ghostbusters (Answer the Call) on Netflix.

Office Uprising  – Streaming on August 15

Horror comedy ‘Office Uprising’ follows office workers at a the office of one of the leading ammunition and weapons manufacture, who must fight for their lives when an energy drink transforms their colleagues into zombies. The lead character Desmond, his crush Samantha and his friend Mourad now has to find a way for survival from the murderous zombie turned coworkers armed with latest weapons.

Finding Steve McQueen (2019) – Coming on Netflix August 15

Based on a real-life 1972 California bank robbery, this heist comedy is directed by Mark Steven Johnson. The film follows a gang of thieves attempting to steal $30 million in illegal campaign contributions from President Richard Nixon’s secret fund. The plan quickly goes sideways, prompting the biggest manhunt in FBI history.

Growing Up Smith (2017) – A coming-of-age story – Coming on August 15

Frank Lotito-directed comedy-drama is set in 1979 when an Indian family moves to America with high hopes to live and realize their American Dream. The coming-of-age story, however, focuses on their 10-year-old boy Smith who falls head-over-heels for the girl next door, Amy. He tries to balance his family expectations and his strong desire towards American pop culture.
