The Revolutionaries: Bhuvan Bam’s New Prime Video Series

Bhuvan Bam, Rohit Saraf, Pratibha Ranta and Gurfateh Pirzada lead this new historical drama about the lesser-known revolutionaries of India’s freedom struggle.

Indian cinema has told the story of India’s freedom struggle many times. But several people who played important roles in the revolutionary movement remain relatively unfamiliar to mainstream audiences. The Revolutionaries wants to change that.

Created and directed by Nikkhil Advani, the Prime Video series premieres on September 11, 2026. It is inspired by Sanjeev Sanyal’s book Revolutionaries: The Other Story of How India Won Its Freedom.

Who Are The Revolutionaries?

The series follows four young revolutionaries who chose a dangerous path in their fight against British rule:

  • Rash Behari Bose — Bhuvan Bam
  • Sachindra Nath Sanyal — Rohit Saraf
  • Pratibha Lahiri — Pratibha Ranta
  • Bagha Jatin — Gurfateh Pirzada

These were real historical figures, not fictional heroes. Their stories involve underground revolutionary networks, political resistance, sacrifice and the enormous risks involved in challenging the British Empire.

Bhuvan Bam Plays Rash Behari Bose

The casting choice attracting the most attention is probably Bhuvan Bam as Rash Behari Bose.

Bam became a household name through BB Ki Vines, but this is a very different kind of role. Bose was an important revolutionary who was involved in anti-British activities in India and later continued his work from Japan.

For Bam, the series offers an opportunity to move further into serious dramatic acting while portraying a real historical personality.

Why This Series Is Interesting

The most interesting thing about The Revolutionaries is its choice of characters. Instead of focusing only on the best-known names from India’s independence movement, it explores people whose contributions are less frequently discussed in popular culture.

That gives the series a chance to present the freedom struggle from a different perspective — one involving secret organizations, armed resistance, friendship, betrayal and personal sacrifice.

When and Where to Watch

The Revolutionaries begins streaming on Prime Video on September 11, 2026.

The series is in Hindi and has also been announced with dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Bengali.

Cinecelluloid Take

The Revolutionaries has a simple but interesting proposition: take a familiar chapter of Indian history and tell it through people whose names are not always part of the mainstream conversation.

Nikkhil Advani’s experience with historical storytelling, combined with a young cast and the real-life stories behind these characters, makes this one of the more interesting Indian OTT releases of the week.

If historical dramas, Indian freedom stories and period series are your thing, The Revolutionaries is certainly worth adding to the weekend watchlist.
