SAVE ME – Short Film Highlights the Devastating Reality of Wildlife Poaching

Iranian writer-director Mohsen Nabavi’s 2017 short film SAVE ME establishes the fact that how we have destroyed wildlife and how we must all be sensitive enough to preserve nature and protect wildlife.

The film very beautifully tries to bring our attention by making us both the hunter and the prey. There is indeed no better way to accept the reality that we are a part of nature and hence we must protect biodiversity, including plants, animals, and their natural habitats.

The storyline follows a mother and her little girl roaming in a forest eating raw honey and catching fish. It seems, away from any human settlement, they have their home deep in the forest. As we wonder more about the characters, one hunter starts chasing the girl and eventually catches her, as the desperate mother tries to save her.

One of the finest aspects of the film SAVE ME is that it triggers a strong emotional response. It reminds us of who we are and why we should care for our environment. The story in the end becomes obvious as it brings the hard truth, the tragic reality of poaching, and why we should end killing and trafficking wildlife.

SAVE ME is a co-production between Malaysian & Iranian filmmakers and technicians. The film has won many international awards in several film festivals. You may watch the film here on YouTube.
