STORY

Daido Moriyama, age 81, is still active as an artist. He is probably the most prominent and the last charismatic figure in the world of photography. He received numerous awards worldwide including the Infinity Award for Lifetime Achievement from the International Center of Photography in New York (2012) and the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography (2019). He nonchalantly transcends art, fashion, and design, and is loved and respected all over the world.

This documentary closely follows Moriyama, “the king of the street snapshot”, and reveals how his works are born. Also, it covers the process for the reissue project of Moriyama’s 1968 debut photo book, ‘Japan A Photo Theater’. Turning the camera not only on Moriyama as he takes photographs, but his exchanges with bookbinders and editors as well, the documentary studies his day-to-day creative work.
