Top Gun: Maverick returns to the skies

UPDATE (20/12/2019): Let’s watch the NEW trailer for Top Gun: Maverick starring Tom Cruise – In theatres June 26, 2020. This is the second trailer while the previous one released back in July 2019.

After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.” Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

Two years ago, in a TV interview, “Top Gun” star Tom Cruise had confirmed the sequel to the 1986 flyboy blockbuster. Now, 33 years after the original film, the actor is back to ace his role once again with “Top Gun: Maverick.”

Here is the first “Top Gun: Maverick” trailer released earlier in July 2019, and this too looks great with Maverick’s return to the skies.

Earlier in the Comic-Con International on July 18, in San Diego, Cruise, in a surprise appearance, Tom Cruise introduced the first trailer for “Top Gun: Maverick.”

He also confirmed: “Everything we see here is for real.” That means all the flying we see in the trailer and working with the Navy is for real.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion), the film also stars Ed Harris, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, and Lewis Pullman.

However, only Cruise (as LT Pete “Maverick” Mitchell) and Kilmer (LT Tom “Iceman” Kazansky) are reprising their roles from the 1986-released film.

“Top Gun: Maverick” is expected to be in cinemas on June 26, 2020.
