Hept: Survival Animated (Short Film)

Currently streaming as part of the Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival, Hept is a gripping animated short from Ecuadorian filmmaker Jorge Baldeon that explores isolation, hunger, and human instinct in a post-apocalyptic world.

Synopsis | A Haunting Glimpse into Survival and Desperation

The film follows a starving man who stumbles upon an abandoned house filled with an unexpected feast. While the abundance of food seems like a miracle, Baldeon deftly builds tension as the man’s unease grows. The silence, shadows, and eerie atmosphere hint at something sinister lurking beneath the surface. When he finally follows a strange noise deeper into the house, the story takes a chilling and inevitable turn.

With a runtime of just over 13 minutes, Hept impresses through its moody animation style and psychological horror. Baldeon, who wrote, directed, and produced the film, displays a mastery of atmosphere—crafting suspense through visual storytelling and subtle sound design rather than dialogue.

For lovers of dystopian tales and dark animation, Hept is an unsettling yet deeply compelling experience that lingers long after the credits roll.
