Movie Synopsis | Fairyland
Set against the free-spirited backdrop of 1970s San Francisco, Fairyland chronicles the life of young Alysia Abbott, who moves in with her father, a poet navigating the city’s bohemian underground. Their unconventional life together is filled with creativity and freedom, but it also exposes them to the struggles of acceptance and the looming shadow of the AIDS crisis in the 1980s.
Through humor, pain, and resilience, the film beautifully explores how their relationship matures as they face both personal and societal challenges. Adapted from Alysia Abbott’s memoir Fairyland: A Memoir of My Father, the movie promises to be a touching exploration of family, love, and survival.
