If you are looking for a Telugu language high-stakes thriller, the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer Saamraajya (also known as “Kingdom”) has been stirring up some serious buzz. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the mind behind “Jersey,” the film is a thrilling spy drama that promises to deliver an intense cinematic experience.
Saamraajya kicks off a planned film duology, scheduled for release on July 31, 2025. The film will have dubbed versions in Hindi and Tamil.
What’s the storyline of Saamraajya?
Imagine a world where all secrets come at a costly price. Saamraajya is the story of Surya, or “Suri,” a skilled undercover operative who’s thrust into making impossible decisions as he embarks on a high-risk espionage mission. In order to safeguard the country, Suri has to disappear from his life—family, friends, and identity left behind—entering into the shadows where danger lurks at every turn.
The mission, however, does not turn out as planned. Suri finds himself embroiled in a web of deceit, unlike alliances, and moral dilemmas, all set against a backdrop of war and shifting loyalties. Along the way, he is joined by game-changing characters like his elder brother Siva (played by Satyadev) and Bhagyashri Borse’s fascinating addition to the cast. Each decision brings new threats, compelling Suri to question what he is willing to sacrifice—and for whom.
