The show tells the tale of Hongrang, the young heir of the powerful Min merchant family, who went missing at the age of eight. Twelve years later, a man purporting to be Hongrang comes back to life, igniting family hope and doubt. Torn between desire and uncertainty, his half-sister Jae-yi sets out to find the truth about his identity. Secrets being revealed put the family in a tangled web of lies, power conflicts, and emotional upheaval.
Starring Lee Jae-wook as the mysterious Hongrang and Jo Bo-ah as the tenacious Jae-yi, the show deftly combines historical drama with gripping narrative. Based on Jang Da-hye’s book Tangeum: Swallowing Gold, Dear Hongrang was helmed by Kim Hong-sun and penned by Kim Jin-ah.
