Nearly 20 years after the release of the first film, the makers of the epic action-adventure-science-fiction-disaster film Independence Day (1996) are ready to tell us the next chapter with a sequel named Independence Day: Resurgence. The trailer of the film is out and looks promising as compared to a few others in the same genre.
A sequel was expected long back but somehow it was not materialized with the script. By 2011, the producer and writer of the first film Dean Devlin and director Roland Emmerich were finally ready to come up with a solid idea to take the story forward with two sequels. They, however, were unable to bring Will Smith on board.
So, is this going to be another alien invasion story with more advanced technologies? Maybe. But the trailer shows a massive spaceship with a promise to bring in a lot more space battles than the original. Nevertheless, the success of the summer release will not dependent on the bigger spaceship or the old characters of Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman, but rather on the right justification with a logical and engaging storyline.
