Ethan Anderson’s latest stop-motion short, “A Guest from Elsewhere,” is making waves in the animation community. Set in a 1930s fairy tale world, the film follows a monster striving to integrate into human society, only to face unforeseen challenges that lead to a trial.
Anderson, a Chicago-based animator, director, and sculptor, is known for blending fine art sensibilities with classic cinema and vaudevillian performance. A recent graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA in Studio Art focusing on animation, he spearheaded every department in this project, showcasing his multifaceted talent.
The film features performances by Oliver Sall as “Adam” and Jane Dunn as “Viola.” Its unique narrative and meticulous craftsmanship have earned it accolades, including the Best Animated Short award at the Atlanta Film Series.
