STONES: A Short Film by Matthew Hopper

The tale of “STONES” centers on a disturbed man who, while visiting his old family home in the Scottish Highlands, confronts a long-standing conflict with his stoic father. He must deal with a difficult period in their relationship, blending emotional depth with breathtaking landscapes.

STONES received critical accolades at prominent film festivals, including Best Low Budget Short Film at a BIFA-qualifying event earlier this year. The short was also nominated for Best Cinematography and screened at several major festivals, including the BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival, Brighton Rocks International Film Festival, and Wimbledon Short Film Festival.

Filmmakers

Matthew Hopper, a London filmmaker, is known for his branded content and short films, such as Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2018) and Rumble (2016), which have both received praise at international festivals. His storytelling has earned recognition from Shore Scripts and other competitions. His latest short film, STONES, builds on his accomplishments, and he is currently working on another movie called Elephant.

Ludovic Hughes, a Scottish actor, producer, and writer, stars in the film. Hughes began his career on the London stage and has shown his versatility and brilliance in TV shows including Dune: Prophecy and Hotel Portofino and award-winning short films like Alegna and Miss Moneypenny.
