Here is the brand-new teaser trailer for Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings that is scheduled for a September 3rd theatrical release later this year.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film stars Canadian actor Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.

The film also features Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, and Ronny Chieng.

This is the first for Marvel Studios to bring an Asian superhero to the big screen. With that, it is natural to expect some exciting martial arts action. Besides, as we can see in the clips from the trailer, the look of the film is mostly inspired by many of the Asian fantasy action films in the kung fu genre. If we may say so, that is indeed a positive and good Asian representation.

Talking about martial arts and Marvel Universe, we already have another martial artist in the form of Danny Rand/Iron Fist although the 2017 Netflix series was not received well, although it has its fanbase. While the production difference is very much evident, we can sense that Marvel Studios has learned from the past.
