We have certainly watched many films in recent times with robot characters, some for kids and some with high-action/sci-fi plots. The latest in the corner is Aurora, written and directed by Robert Kouba. This film has been so far funded on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.
The film Aurora is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi film, set in 2080 – 60 years after manmade machines have taken over the world.
In fact, a supercomputer that calls himself “Kronos” arrives at the conclusion that human beings are actual threats to the planet, hence a transition protocol was initiated with a war that killed almost the entire human race.
The story primarily focuses on Andrew (Julian Schaffner) who faces a car accident on the day of the robot rebellion in the year 2020. He wakes up 60 years later with no traces of humans whatsoever.

On his way, he meets a girl named Callie (Jeannine Wacker) who is on her way to a rumored place called Aurora – the last stronghold of surviving human population. Living with the constant fear of the machines, both Andrew and Jeannine develop feelings for each other until they find that Andrew is not human.
Director Robert Kouba takes inspiration from books by physicist Ray Kurzweil who talks about a technological singularity in the decades to come. Overall, the film tries to portray a possible conflict between humans and machines, where technology advances beyond our control.
The concept of a man-machine conflict and humans having to fight for their existence in the near future is although fictional but a fascinating idea to bring in with a story. However, it’s only after the release, we can talk more about how far Kouba actually managed to put his vision in place with a featured film.
