For all those die-hard Kamalian, here comes Kamal Haasan with yet another epic tale Uttama Villain – a Tamil comedy-drama. The much-awaited trailer of the film has just been released creating a buzz in south filmdom.
Uttama Villain – Plot
Superstar Manoranjan learns that he has only a few days to live and approaches his mentor, director Margadarisi to direct his next project — a folklore-ish comedy about a man who keeps cheating death and his role in saving a kingdom. Meanwhile, he has to sort out his personal lives, which involves an estranged son and a daughter from the love of his life.
Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan plays the character of an aging superstar. As per the plot, he is in a dual role: one of an 8th-century drama artist (Uttaman), and the other brings a modern-day film star (Manoranjan).
Directed by Ramesh Aravind, Uttama Villain features an ensemble cast including Jayaram, Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, Urvashi, and K. Vishwanath. Southern filmmaker the late K. Balachander, who was also the real-life mentor of Kamal Haasan, will play a very special role in the film—most probably as the mentor to Manoranjan.
Uttama Villain story and the screenplay is written by Kamal Haasan himself, whereas the cinematography is handled by Shyam Dutt, and the music by Mohamaad Ghibran, a Trinity College graduate known for his numerous ad film compositions.
