Chris Hemsworth reveals his shockingly thin body with dramatic weight loss for the new movie ‘In The Heart Of The Sea’. The film will go on to inspire Herman Melville’s classic novel, Moby-Dick.
How many actors you have seen who have completely transformed themselves into the character they are supposed to essay, not just in performance, but in physical appearance? I guess only a few: Matthew McConaughey, who plays a real-life AIDS patient in the 2013 American biographical drama film Dallas Buyers Club; and then no one can forget the insane insomnia role Christian Bale played in The Machinist (2004).
To give them competition, rather to stand tall with those prerequisites, or sheer dedication and work ethic (with which many of us even may disagree), Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, regarded as one of the fittest and hottest men in Hollywood, has almost transformed himself for his role in the upcoming “In the Heart of the Sea.”
He recently posted on Twitter, how he restricted his diet to only 500 calories a day to reach this shockingly unrecognizable photo of himself.
Just tried a new diet/training program called "Lost At Sea". Wouldn't recommend it.. #IntheHeartoftheSea pic.twitter.com/y89McNuiiV

The “Thor” fame Hemsworth is playing the character of the first mate Owen Chase, who gets shipwrecked after his vessel is attacked by a whale, in the historical adventure drama In the Heart of the Sea.
The film follows the real-life incident in which the American whaleship ‘Essex’ was attacked and sunk by a sperm whale in the southern Pacific Ocean in 1820.
The twenty-man crew spent months at sea, having to resort to cannibalism to survive before the final eight survivors were rescued. First mate Owen Chase and cabin boy Thomas Nickerson wrote accounts of the ordeal, and the incident inspired Herman Melville’s 1851 novel Moby-Dick.
Certainly, reading about the true-life horror on which the movie is based, the actors in it needed to go the extra mile, to attain the point close to reality, in which the survivors turned cannibalism. Nevertheless, while as movie buffs we may wonder and appreciate the level of dedication from actors, such body shaping practice is ridiculously dangerous.
