‘Avatar: The Way of Water’: New Trailer Shows Glimpses of James Cameron’s Magical Vision

A new trailer for “Avatar: The Way of Water” is now available that once again shows glimpses of a magical world from the imagination of director-writer James Cameron.

A sequel to Avatar (released in 2009), the new film will have its theatrical release on December 16, 2022.

When one looks at the trailer for the sequel to James Cameron’s most famous film to date, Avatar, it appears to be exceptional. The title “Avatar: The Way of Water” looks apt for its underwater adventure.

Plot

“Avatar: The Way of Water,” which takes place more than a decade after the events of the first film, begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their children), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

The 2009 film is still the highest-grossing film of all time, grossing more than $2.7 billion worldwide. It was re-released in theaters early this year and is currently available on Disney+.

Avatar 2 is the first of four planned sequels, bringing the Avatar film franchise to a total of five films. The untitled third “Avatar” film will be released on December 20, 2024. The final installment will be released 19 years after the first Avatar, in 2028.
