Mystery-Adventure ‘Enola Holmes’ Comes to Netflix on Sep 23

Among most of the movies that either now have deferred theatrical release dates or are pushed to be premiered on streaming platforms, Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill starrer ‘ENOLA HOLMES’ finally gets a streaming date on Netflix i.e. September 23.

As per the trailer, the Emmy nominated actress (for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things) Millie Bobby Brown plays Sherlock Holmes’ (Henry Cavill) younger sister Enola in this film based on Nancy Springer’s series of mystery novels of the same name. The film also stars Sam Claflin as both Enola and Sherlock’s elder brother Mycroft.

Earlier, Netflix has not given away a clear release date. It first posted a teaser with a caption in anagram: “alone loshme reeebtpms wnettyrhitd” that reads: “Enola Holmes September twenty-third”.

What is in ‘Enola Holmes’ story?

Set in 1884 England – a world on the brink of change, the film follows the titular character Enola who on the morning of her 16th birthday wakes up to find that her mother Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter) has gone missing, leaving behind an odd assortment of gifts but no apparent clue as to where she has gone or why.

Now, Enola is under the care of her elder brothers Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and Mycroft (Sam Claflin), who against the wishes of Enola plan to send her away to a finishing school for “proper” young ladies. Enola then escapes to search for her mother in London. But when her journey finds her entangled in a mystery surrounding a young runaway Lord (Louis Partridge), Enola becomes a super-sleuth in her own right, outwitting her famous brother as she unravels a conspiracy that threatens to set back the course of history.

This Sherlock Holmes spin-off movie, ‘Enola Holmes’ is directed by Harry Bradbee, with a screenplay by Jack Thorne. Going by the focus on the lead character in the film, this is expected to be a different take on what we have seen or read so far in the mystery series originally created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
