‘Falling Inn Love’: Netflix Movie Review

Falling Inn Love: Netflix Movie Review

With those many horror and thriller movies piling up in the ever-expanding Netflix library, ‘Falling Inn Love’ is the latest addition in the rom-com genre. The film is sweet and feel-good for the moment, even though the storyline has nothing special to make it different from others.

‘Falling Inn Love’ follows a modern independent girl Gabriela (Christina Milian) who is living a busy yet successful life in San Francisco. As life often takes sudden turns, she loses her home-design job and breaks up with her boyfriend within a span of one week.

With gloominess, she enters an online ‘Win an Inn’ contest to keep her dream of creating self-sustaining homes alive. As she eventually wins the contest and travels to picturesque rural New Zealand, she learns that the inn by no means is in good shape.

Known to the locals as the Bellbird Valley Farm, the now depleted Inn has a history, and Gabriela now has to put up the courage to bring it back to its lost glory. Anyways, on her way to renovate the crumbling house, she meets a handsome and charming local contractor Jake Taylor (Adam Demos) who is more than happy to help her.

Well, that’s what we can imagine from the very beginning and of course the cute love story between the lady and the contractor, who is there to be her business as well as the life partner.

To some extent, the film has good characterization with some sketchy backstories of Jake, Gabriela, and the inn. Also, without much melodrama, the film has a decent amount of emotion and elements of comedy to make the whole experience beautiful.

However, the only thing which we felt could have been better is the love story itself. While the story revolves around the inn, the central characters seem mechanical even though the chemistry was visible. It’s just that the script does not have enough substance on the love angle. Nevertheless, rom-coms are supposed to be delightful and ‘Fall Inn Love’ is one of those.

‘Falling Inn Love’ is now streaming on Netflix.

Directed by Roger Kumble
Cast: Christina Milian, Adam Demos, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Anna Jullienne, Claire Chitham, Blair Strang, Jonathan Martin, William Walker, Daniel Watterson, and Simone Walker.

Well, once in a while, we watch movies that are decent enough to keep our tiredness away. Of course, we don’t want to spend much time thinking too much about the plot or storyline of a movie. If that’s the case, ‘Falling Inn Love’ is a good one to watch – even though you fall asleep midway. That’s a compliment though.
