Assassin’s Creed (2016) – This film adaptation of the videogame stars Michael Fassbender

Assassin’s Creed (2016) - Michael Fassbender in this film adaptation of the videogame

Last week, we saw the first trailer for the highly anticipated film adaptation of the video game Assassin’s Creed, which features Michael Fassbender in action. We can still hope for some real action with an original storyline that is an extension of its video game mythology, despite the fact that most game-turned movies, with the exception of “Resident Evil,” have not been that great in theatrical execution.

Watch the trailer for Assassin’s Creed, a film starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard that will be released in theaters on December 21st, 2016.

The video game series, which debuted in 2007, focuses not only on characters and stories from the Crusades-era Holy Land to the dawn of the American Revolution but also on the present day. Assassin’s Creed depicts a conflict between two ancient secret societies: “the Assassins,” who fight for peace through free will, and the evil “Templars,” who seek peace through control.

The movie doesn’t follow the exact storyline of the gaming world. While Desmond Miles is the main character in the Assassin’s Creed game, it is Callum Lynch – a modern-day descendant of the 15th-century Spanish Assassin Aguilar de Nerha. The film, however, maintains the same setup in which a futuristic company sends the lead character back in time via his ancestral DNA to gain knowledge and skill in order to fight the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
