Woody Allen, Hollywood’s award-winning filmmaker, is set to release another of his works, Café Society, on July 15th. The film had its world premiere at the 69th Cannes Film Festival (May 11-22). Allen, who has been active as an artist and filmmaker for the last six decades, is still working at the age of 80, producing films that will be remembered for a long time. Café Society, a new romantic drama starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart, is set in the 1930s.

Bobby Dorfman, a young 20-something Jewish guy, travels to Hollywood to try his luck, leaving behind his wrangling parents, his gangster brother, and the family jewelry store. Jesse Eisenberg plays Bobby Dorfman. When his powerful uncle Phil (Steve Carell) hires him as an errand boy, he not only enters the glittering Hollywood scene but also finds love. Initially, it appears that his romantic life is complicated by the fact that the girl Vonnie (Phil’s young secretary) has a boyfriend. Nonetheless, time marches on, and the girl knocks on Bobby’s door, and his life takes a new, romantically beautiful turn.

Let’s watch the trailer of Cafe Society

Café Society transports us to a time that Allen could very well have imagined from personal experience. As moviegoers, we must also view the film from a different perspective, given that it was made during the Great Depression and World War II. In this film, we can expect vintage Woody Allen magic with fascinating characters and New York City’s high life.
