Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” released recently in India, is a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”).
Set in a human-free world inhabited only by animals, “Zootopia” is a goofy and joyful animated film.
The film introduces us to the modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia, a city like no other, where rabbits and foxes have learned to live in harmony. Not just that, Zootopia is a place where animals of different shapes and sizes, whether carnivorous or herbivorous, all are living in a society under a legal system i.e. equal for all.
In such a ‘just’ environment, all Zootopian are also encouraged to be anything they like. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first rabbit patrol cop amongst those numerous tough animals isn’t that easy at all.
Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery.
Overall, “Zootopia” offers a very well-written story with an emphasis on many things, but at least with an uplifting message to youngsters that no matter what others say, you must always strive towards the goal of being what you want to be.
This one from Disney is no doubt laced with the old concept of bringing together a good story and interesting characters that appeal to both children and adults.
Stream it, if you have not already watched “Zootopia”.
