The late actor Irrfan Khan’s final film, “The Song of Scorpions,” is set to release in theaters on April 28th. Directed by Anup Singh, the movie is a folktale set in the Thar desert, featuring a haunting premise of twisted love, revenge, and the redemptive power of a song.
“The Song of Scorpions” made its global premiere on August 9, 2017 at the 70th Locarno Film Festival in Locarno, Switzerland.
The story follows Nooran, played by Golshifteh Farahani, a tribal woman learning the ancient healing art of scorpion singing from her grandmother, Zubeida, played by Waheeda Rehman. When Aadam, a camel trader in the Rajasthan desert, played by Khan, hears her sing, he falls desperately in love. But before they can get to know each other better, Nooran is poisoned by a treachery that sets her on a perilous journey to avenge herself and find her song.

The recently released trailer showcases the primary characters’ affection, but just as they are set to marry, a disaster arises, interrupting their plans. The trailer promises a gripping storyline and stunning visuals set in the beautiful Thar desert.
Tillotama Shome and Shashank Arora will also be seen in pivotal roles along with Khan in the movie. Irrfan and Anup had previously collaborated on the film Qissa: The Tale of a Lonely Ghost (2013).
Anup Singh said, “The film is about choice: you can either choose to breathe out the poison you breathe in or sing a song of love that heals rather than harms. It’s an important film given the times we live in. Irrfan believed in it passionately, and I am glad that people will be able to see it soon. It’s an emotional moment for me and the entire team.
