Despite Ui-gang’s initial reservations, Yoon-ji proves to be quite a handful. She gets into trouble and makes poor decisions that lead her into a dangerous situation. Director Choi Jae-hoon, who previously delivered the thrilling period action film “The Swordsman,” masterfully crafts innovative action choreography that sets this film apart from its contemporaries in the Asian cinema scene.

Jang Hyuk’s performance in “The Killer” solidifies his status as a bankable action star. He skillfully navigates between the roles of a family man and a silent assassin burdened by his past but yearning for a normal life.

While the film’s storyline and characterization may leave something to be desired compared to its John Wick-esque counterparts, “The Killer” still stands as one of the best recent action films due to its slick and stylish action sequences.
