Paul Rudd & Jenna Ortega Star in Dark Comedy-Horror Death of a Unicorn

A24 has released the first trailer for Death of a Unicorn, a darkly comedic horror film starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega. The film, directed by Alex Scharfman, follows a father-daughter duo who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn on their way to a company retreat. What should have been a bizarre but harmless incident spirals into chaos when the unicorn’s mystical properties attract the attention of a ruthless billionaire, played by Richard E. Grant.

The film, also starring Téa Leoni and Will Poulter, blends surreal horror, satire, and absurd comedy in a way that has already sparked early buzz. With its world premiere at South by Southwest, reactions have been mixed—some praising its unique concept and performances, while others feel its satirical edge isn’t sharp enough.

Produced by Hereditary and Midsommar director Ari Aster, Death of a Unicorn promises a twisted, offbeat take on corporate greed and fantasy folklore. The film is set to hit theaters everywhere on March 28, and based on the trailer, audiences can expect a wild ride full of dark humor, eerie visuals, and Rudd’s signature charm.
