The Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival Returns For Its Fifth Season

The Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival is back for 2024 (October 14th to 20th), which marks its fifth season and is scheduled to feature over 200 original and independent sci-fi and fantasy films from across the world. This year’s festival continues its “big tent” philosophy, celebrating all things sci-fi—from the eclectically weird to the sublimely classic.

Fifth Season Highlights

The Godzilla Eras Tour at this year’s festival will pay tribute to the Godzilla series and the Kaiju genre. On October 17th, there will be a Japanese SciFi Night at Stuart Cinema Cafe and a Kaiju Monster Night at the Spectacular Theater. Online features include a Kaiju panel, a documentary showing, and an interactive Godzilla history tour. Other highlights include an indie filmmaker networking event, Awards Night at the Alamo Drafthouse, and a screening of the Best of Brooklyn SciFi short films on October 16th, followed by a panel discussion.

New Interactive Experiences at Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival

Brooklyn SciFi has launched an online streaming service similar to Netflix, allowing global fans to watch films, up-vote favorites, attend watch parties, and engage in panel discussions. Screenings include T.I.M., directed by Spencer Brown, and the Godzilla documentary The Dawn of Kaiju Eiga, directed by Jonathan Bellés. The original curated series The Sixth Borough returns, blending sci-fi tales in a style described as “Black Mirror meets the Twilight Zone.”
