"Silver Haze" (2023) - A Captivating Story of Healing and Love

“SIlver Haze,” an emotional British-Dutch co-production drama directed by Sacha Polak, is set to be screened at the 38th BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival from March 13 to 24, at BFI Southbank and on BFI Player.

The film was previously nominated for the Panorama Audience Award at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, where it made its international debut on February 19, 2023. Later, the film was screened in the ‘Strand’ part of the ‘Love’ theme at the 2023 BFI London Film Festival.

“Silver Haze,” starring Vicky Knight, Esmé Creed-Miles, Charlotte Knight, Archie Brigden, and Angela Bruce, revolves around the life of 23-year-old burns survivor Franky. Struggling with the aftermath of a difficult childhood, Franky finds love and healing through her first lesbian relationship.

Synopsis

In the wake of a breakup with her long-term boyfriend, East London nurse Franky finds unexpected love with Florence, one of her charming patients. Their relationship becomes a refuge from Franky’s turbulent home life, allowing her to embrace joy in ways she had never imagined. However, as the dynamics of the relationship evolve, Franky must rely on her chosen family to navigate the challenges and mend both past and present wounds.
