Gretel & Hansel – Movie Plot & Trailer

A long time ago in a distant fairy-tale countryside, a young girl leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.

As per the tagline in the poster, we can expect a grim version of the classic tale. The trailer also shows glimpses of the haunting and claustrophobic setting.

‘Hansel & Gretel’ Story – Short Summary

As we know in the original story, Gretel and Hansel are the two kids of a poor woodcutter. Their mother is no more, and they live with their father and stepmother.

When a great famine strikes the country, their family struggles to survive at a time when people start dying of starvation. The woodcutter’s wife becomes selfish and eventually decides to leave the children in the black and gloomy forest.

Both the kids overhear their stepmother telling their father that there are too many mouths and they do not have enough food, and hence they should leave the kids alone in the forest. Now, both the little brother and sister must act smart to find their way back home, if they are ever left alone in the woods.

Finally, when their worst fear turns true, and they are abandoned in the woods, they must find ways to survive the night in the forest, as an evil cannibalistic witch lures them into her house so that she could eat them up for dinner. They eventually escape the forest by outwitting the evil witch.
