In Ballad of a Small Player, Colin Farrell stars as Lord Doyle, a con man whose fortunes are dwindling in the labyrinthine casinos of Macau. Doyle spends his nights drinking and gambling away his last reserves, all while struggling to escape mounting debts. Salvation appears in Dao Ming (Fala Chen), a casino employee with secrets of her own. But hope is soon threatened by Cynthia Blithe (Tilda Swinton), a relentless private investigator ready to force Doyle to confront whatever he’s running from. The city’s alluring and spectral atmosphere blurs the boundaries between reality and illusion, making Doyle’s quest both thrilling and haunting.
