Together (2025): A Supernatural Descent into Body Horror and Broken Love

Director Michael Shanks’ 2025 feature debut, TOGETHER, is a visceral supernatural body horror that combines the fear of physical alteration with the emotional disintegration of a tense relationship. Real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie lead the story as a mysterious force threatens to corrupt their lives.

Together had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2025, and is now scheduled to be released in the United States by Neon on July 30, 2025. In the festival circuit, the film has received rave reviews for its creepy atmosphere, unsettling effects, and its psychological exploration of love withered by isolation and trauma.

Together – Movie Synopsis

Years into their relationship, Tim and Millie (Dave Franco and Alison Brie) find themselves at a crossroads as they move to the country, abandoning all that is familiar in their lives except each other. With tensions already flaring, a nightmarish encounter with a mysterious, unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love, and their flesh.

The couple begins to experience grotesque changes—not just emotionally, but physically. Their bodies twist in unexplainable and monstrous fashions, reflecting the poisonous lies they’ve hidden behind their passion. When boundaries of self and other break down, Tim and Millie are forced to face a reality where love no longer becomes a kind of salvation, but an omen of corruption.
