Danny Boyle Returns to Horror with 28 Years Later

Get ready for an intense return to the Rage virus world with 28 Years Later, the eagerly anticipated sequel to the classic horror series that started with 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007). This marks the return of acclaimed director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland.

The movie is the first of a daring new trilogy. Garland wrote all three of the scripts, and Boyle is back in the director’s chair. This chapter adds to the lore of a world ripped apart by fear, loneliness, and infection while introducing a new generation of characters.

28 Years Later is set to hit theatres worldwide on June 20, 2025, with a simultaneous release in the UK, US, Canada, and India.

Plot

Set almost thirty years after the initial outbreak, the story follows a remote island community that has managed to stay unaffected—until now. A man named Jamie and his son Spike are sent to the mainland to find the truth after communication with the outside world is cut off. However, their findings might be much worse than those of the infected.
