The Witch Revenge (2024)

A violent Ukrainian horror-fantasy movie, ‘The Witch Revenge’ (2024), is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a distraught witch exacts supernatural retribution on Russian soldiers.

Ancient folklore blends with love and loss in the eerie aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. A strong witch from the Ukrainian town of Konotop, Olena had long given up her supernatural powers in favor of a tranquil life with her mortal fiancé, Andrii. When Russian soldiers ruthlessly kill Andrii while occupying Konotop, their peaceful life is disrupted. Overwhelmed by sorrow and a desire for vengeance, Olena awakens her dormant powers and exacts a merciless and gory punishment on those who are at fault.

Tetiana Malkova plays Olena in this 100-minute Ukrainian horror-fantasy film, which was directed by Andrii Kolesnyk and written by Yaroslav Voytseshek. Taras Tsymbaliuk plays Andrii. Inspired by Ukrainian folklore and the actual horrors of war, the story skillfully combines elements of horror, fantasy, war, and drama.

The Witch Revenge, which made its debut at the Odesa International Film Festival in July 2024, garnered attention for its powerful acting and visceral storytelling. In light of actual conflict, the film’s depiction of Olena’s journey from a grieving lover to a vindictive force strikes a deep chord.

Now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, The Witch Revenge offers a chilling exploration of love, loss, and the supernatural. Viewer discretion is advised due to intense scenes of violence and horror.
