“The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial,” directed by the late William Friedkin, known for “The Exorcist,” is a gripping naval drama. The movie, which had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, explores a case involving the American Navy.

Lieutenant Stephen Maryk (Jake Lacy) is facing charges for removing Lieutenant Commander Phillip Queeg (Kiefer Sutherland) from command in the middle of a hazardous storm at sea. The main argument: Was it a brave act or a mutiny?

Starring Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Clarke, Jake Lacy, and more, this film explores honor and duty. Based on Herman Wouk’s Pulitzer-winning novel, it’s a tale of moral dilemmas and leadership.

Barney Greenwald, a skeptical lawyer, finds himself reluctantly defending a naval lieutenant who took charge of the Caine from its captain, Lt. Philip Francis Queeg (portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland), during a perilous sea storm. Yet, as the court-martial proceedings unfold, Greenwald begins to question whether it was truly mutiny or rather the courageous acts of a group of sailors who couldn’t rely on their unpredictable leader. This compelling film is based on Herman Wouk’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name and brought to life by the acclaimed Oscar®-winning director, William Friedkin.
