Let’s watch the series trailer for ‘Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega’

Created by Viacom18 Studio’s Tipping Point, ‘Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega’ is directed by National Award-winning director Soumendra Padhi (Budhia Singh: Born to Run). The story is inspired by actual incidents in which young, ambitious, and rebellious people get into defrauding the public by carrying out phishing scams.

Soumendra Padhi, Director of ‘Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega,’ said,

“The issue of phishing is so common and yet so underrepresented in the media. I’ve been to Jamtara and spoken to multiple people about how these scams are pulled off — the stories are so real and yet so unbelievable that I knew I had to share them with the world. Based on true-crime incidents, the series required a great deal of research and detailing to bring to life various characters and motives. I’m so excited to collaborate with Netflix to take this story from a small town in India to audiences around the world.”

The series shows how the advent of the internet which opens many possibilities also gives a tool to the young people in the small village of Jamtara who run one of the biggest phishing rackets. A news report about the scam catapults the village into the limelight, throwing a spanner in the works when, suddenly, everyone wants in on the game.

Netflix India in its press release says: “Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega captures the risks of the internet, the cocktail of opportunity and motivation that lead ordinary people into the world of crime. The series that presents a very nuanced look at human relationships brings together an ensemble cast that includes Amit Sial, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Aksha Pardasany, Sparsh Srivastava, Monika Panwar, and Anshumaan Pushkar.”

The story is very true as we hear from people daily and read news of how scammers are calling people faking as bank employees and then asking them for their personal details to withdraw money from their account. In India, where many people are not well-educated to avoid such scams, they are falling prey to such fraudulence.

Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega is the real story of those many incidents where people have no option but to be aware of such activities. Certainly, the series will help many think twice before they answer an unknown phone number where they have been asked to share personal details.
