‘AKA’ (2023) Movie Review: An Action-Packed French Crime Drama

AKA' (2023) Netflix Movie Review

Do you enjoy gritty action thrillers? If so, then you won’t want to miss Netflix’s latest action/crime film release ‘AKA’. This French-style gangster movie promises to deliver a fresh take on the genre with its impressive pace, an imposing performance from Alban Lenoir, and some great action sequences.

The film ‘AKA,’ starring Alban Lenoir and Éric Cantona, follows a special ops agent (Lenoir) as he infiltrates a crime syndicate and forms an unexpected bond with the boss’ young son.

Directed by Morgan S. Dalibert, who previously worked on Netflix’s ‘Lost Bullet’, the movie’s thin storyline and lack of characterization might draw criticism, but it’s Alban Lenoir’s remarkable performance as the conflicted agent and the action-packed sequences that together hold your attention.

Moreover, despite its flaws, ‘AKA’ has far more to offer than just action. The suspense element of the film, as well as the twist near the end, challenges viewers to recognize that they rarely know what’s going on until they get the complete picture, keeping them engaged and intrigued until the very end.

While the film falls short of providing a riveting cinematic experience, it is still worth a watch for fans of the genre. So grab some popcorn, settle in, and prepare for an exciting adventure with ‘AKA,’ which is now available on Netflix.
