‘Foe’ – Based on Iain Reid's Sci-Fi Thriller Novel

‘Foe,’ directed by Garth Davis, is an upcoming science fiction psychological thriller film based on Iain Reid’s 2018 novel of the same name. It stars Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal, and Aaron Pierre.

The film will premiere at the 2023 New York Film Festival before being released by Amazon Studios in the United States on October 6, 2023.

What is ‘Foe’ about?

The story of the film, dubbed a psychological sci-fi thriller, takes place in the near future when corporate domination and environmental damage are wreaking havoc on the world. ‘Foe’ depicts the story of Hen and Junior, a young married couple who live alone on their remote farm. A knock on the door one night from a stranger named Terrance changes everything: Junior has been chosen at random to travel to a big, experimental space station circling Earth, while his wife will be left in the company of someone else.

The novel’s version was described by critics as a combination of various genres, including literary fiction, science fiction, psychological thriller, and horror. As a result, it is expected that the film adaptation would follow suit, leaving moviegoers with a slew of unanswered questions.
