Sony and Marvel join hands to reboot Spider-Man

Spider-Man is about to get a massive reboot with the announcement of a deal between Sony and Marvel. Reports are that Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film under the banner Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU), most probably in the “Captain America: Civil War” due for release in 2016 and then it’s very likely that we will see another Spider-Man movie of its own by 2017.

As a sequel to the reboot titled, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), did not do well at the box office, the reason was evident for a much-needed revamp of the franchise.

So, although it was a long due collaboration between the two production houses in order to bring another popular superhero to act alongside The Avengers: Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor and Captain America, it’s indeed thrilling to expect the next chapter of Spider-Man.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Andrew Garfield is not expected to reprise the character while Marvel’s Kevin Feige will join Sony’s Amy Pascal as a producer on the new movie. They both will then work on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony however will have all final creative control and continue to produce, distribute and own the future Spider-Man films.

Whatever be the future scenario, super hero fans are certainly going to watch Spider-Man within Marvel cinematic universe. From the creative point of view, Marvel’s direct involvement certainly seems great.
