‘The Nun’ Follows Demon Valak in the Darkest Chapter

The Nun Movie Poster

Advertised as ‘the darkest chapter’ in The Conjuring + Annabelle film series, The Nun is probably going to be yet another scare-fest from the makers who mastered this genre. The first trailer of the upcoming film just hit the internet and this looks frightening.

Please watch the movie trailer below, and then we will discuss more on the possible storyline and the cast. The film is releasing on September 7.

Set in 1952, The Nun goes back to the events before the first Conjuring movie and the Annabelle: Creation (a prequel to Annabelle) movie. So, this is a prequel to whatever we have so far seen in the “The Conjuring” and its extended movie universe.

The movie follows a Vatican priest and his assistant who travel to Romania to investigate the mysterious death of a nun – who took her own life. While in the trailer we can see the demonic nun figure “Valak” that had already terrorized the audience in The Conjuring 2 movie, there is more to the story of its creation.

Just like the other Conjuring movies, The Nun has its historical, quaint setting of the foregone era, which in fact enhances the scope of horror and spookiness in the surroundings. Also the film is going to shed some light on faith and hope without being judgmental; this will be yet another story of good over evil or God over devil.

James Wan, director of “The Conjuring” and “The Conjuring 2” co-produces The Nun, while it is directed by Corin Hardy (“The Hallow”).

Interestingly, the makers in their ongoing effort will certainly at some point bring the stories of this horror movie universe to a full circle. Also as per the news, there is even more to the Annabelle story – a sequel to creation. That movie will be coming in July 2019. This is something we can sense as of now even though they are going back and forth with sequels and prequels.

Official synopsis:

When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret.  Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in “The Conjuring 2,” as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.
