RAAZ REBOOT – We Don’t Need Another Raaz Movie

Indian horror film Raaz

Recently, we get to watch RAAZ REBOOT – the fourth installment of the Raaz horror movie series. As usual, the movie promised a lot in terms of horror elements but end up delivering more than enough reasons why we no more need another such horror movie from the makers. For a long, it seems the Bhatt clan was obsessed with this film series after the success of the first movie. Now, we’re bored of such movies with their senseless logic and treatment.

RAAZ REBOOT doesn’t have even a noble intention with a good storyline. The moment you start expecting some chilling experience, it turns out a laughing spree with the sole question of what’s new in this film. There is the same old idea of a very beautiful couple, a haunted house, paranormal activity, and exorcism. At no point do you feel there is something new, rather it was all predictable, reminding several other substandard stories.

Well, I spent my money trusting this as a horror film, but where are the moments of scare? One of my friends suggested it as a romantic suspense thriller. I guess the whole idea of romance in every other Bollywood film pulls the industry down with not a single good horror movie coming out in recent times.

Newly married couple – Rihaan (Gaurav) and Shaina (Kriti) move into a palace-like place somewhere in Romania. Soon after they move in, Shaina starts experiencing paranormal existence. She tries to explain the same to Rihaan but it seems he knowingly ignored which left her distraught while trying to deal with the evil spirit on her own.

At the same time, Shaina happens to meet her ex Aditya (Emraan Hashmi) who convinces her that he knows everything about the evil spirit and it’s not her the spirit wants to take revenge on, but her husband Rihaan, who has killed someone. He then promises her to help in getting rid of the evil entity.

What happens next is simply laughable and not an ounce scary. Let me open the envelope a little further – RAAZ REBOOT is very much similar to 1920 London. The story is nothing new nor has any unique angle that will keep your attention for a long. At one point, you will even feel how the makers of the film tried all cheap tricks like the one when the evil spirit utters the F* word numerous times when Rihaan chants some holy mantras.

So, after watching this, you will most likely conclude that we don’t need another Raaz movie or for that matter any such cheap movie that doesn’t justify the genre. Hopefully, the new age Indian filmmakers might soon come up with something really good to fill the gap in the horror genre.
