Trailer: ‘EQUITY,’ Set in a Modern Wall Street

Equity (2016)

EQUITY is a smart Wall Street thriller directed by Indian American filmmaker Meera Menon, whose directorial debut, “Farah Goes Bang,” won the inaugural Nora Ephron Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2013. The film’s trailer has recently surfaced on the internet, and from the looks of it, it will be one of the female-driven corporate thrillers.

Set in a post-financial-crisis world where regulations are tight, but aspirations remain high, EQUITY follows a top female investment banker as she shepherds the IPO of an emerging tech company and struggles to balance business and ethics.

Surprisingly, the film was written, directed, starred in, and produced by women. Following its world premiere on January 25th at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, EQUITY was also screened on April 19th at the Tribeca Film Festival. Overall, critics have praised the film, and Sony Picture Classics has already acquired theatrical distribution rights.

We have yet to write anything specific about the film because we have not watched it yet. Nonetheless, we are eager to see how accurately the film portrays Wall Street and the business inside. Most importantly, from the perspective of a businesswoman and a world (Wall Street) full of deception.
