CELL (2016) — Based on Stephen King’s Novel [Trailer]

CELL — Based on Stephen King’s Novel

When was the last time you watched a zombie movie? In fact, there are many come out in recent times. This one has been in production for a long time. Although it is based on horror master Stephen King’s best-selling CELL, this has not attracted much attention so far, probably for the reason of its longtime production.

Directed by Tod Williams (Paranormal Activity 2), CELL follows Clay who at the Boston airport, witnesses a scene of chaos when a mysterious cell phone signal broadcast across the network turned scores of cell phone users into freak killers.

Desperate to find his estranged family, Clay teams up with a train driver and a group of fellow survivors to battle the walking dead, as the city descends into apocalyptic madness.

Samuel L. Jackson joins John Cusack for the second time for a Stephen King adaptation since the haunted-hotel-room story ‘1408’ (released in 2007). Interestingly, King wrote the novel ‘Cell’ back in 2006 when iPhones did not have that wide reach.

However, in the last decade or so, the cell phone has been the most common technological gadget one can find in everyone’s hands. Hence, ideally the premise of the story today seems interesting but we need to wait to review the film in terms of the overall treatment and the story the makers have tried to sketch.
