Wow! Yes, this is what my experience is after watching the movie Frontera, co-written and directed by Michael Berry. It’s certainly a moving tale about a Mexican family and an American couple who witness life on the other side of fences and fates.

Set on the chaotic border area of southwestern frontier of US and Mexico, it tells about a Mexican man Miguel (Michael Pena), an honest man who wants to sneak into US for a better life for his wife and daughter. While crossing the border secretly he finds himself unfairly accused of killing a former sheriff’s (Ed Harris) wife.

Soon after his arrest on US soil, his pregnant wife (Eva Longoria) too tries to come to his aid but finds herself in the hands of few men who smuggles illegal immigrants into the United States. They hold her for ransom.

Meanwhile, dissatisfied with the police, the sheriff himself tries to investigate and finds out crucial evidence behind his wife’s death. What is true to the story stands true to the issues and tension between people living in both sides of the border.

Frontera is a beautiful, true story that keeps you guessing till the last few minutes. Ed Harris is amazing as usual and so as the other star cast. It is a must-watch.
