Last Vegas (2013) – All for Douglas, De Niro, Freeman and Kline

Last Vegas Movie

Last Vegas (2013) follows three sixty-something friends who take a break from their normal lives to throw a bachelor party for their last remaining single friend in Las Vegas.

Like many of us, the first thing that hooked me to watch the movie Last Vegas is its incredible cast – all Academy Award winners: Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline. Well, however, dull is the script, once you realize the acting prowess of these four gentlemen in various movies, you could only imagine a treat on screen.

The story goes like this: Billy (Douglas), Paddy (De Niro), Archie (Freeman) and Sam (Kline) are four childhood best friends who are now living their ordinary lives in the age of 60s and 70s. Without nothing much to do, these four are almost in solitude until the day when Billy – the only bachelor in the group finally proposes to his much younger girlfriend, and the four decided to hit Las Vegas with a bachelor party for Billy before the wedding on that weekend.

What happens next may suggest you as something like The Hangover but only to a specific audience of older age group. Nevertheless, I found this immensely entertaining although I agree with most of the reviewers that the script could have something more to offer.

What I like about the movie is not just the story-driven humor but also the sensitive points for all of us when we approach old age and most importantly the joy of friendship that certainly goes with us for decades. This is in no way a portrayal of senior citizen stereotypes but rather something more with light-hearted moments.
