47 Ronin – Movie Trailer

47 Ronin - a fantasy action film starring Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves is back with this fantasy action film, ’47 Ronin,’ depicting a fictional story of a group of 47 real-life Japanese samurai, known as ‘Forty-seven Ronin’ who are up with arms to avenge the murder of their master Asano Naganori. The movie is set for release this Christmas, December 25th.

Reeves, who is out of action for quite some time, will also be seen in another film “Man of Tai Chi.” The 47 Ronin story has been in Japanese culture and is referred to as Chushingura in Japan. It is amongst the most familiar historical stories in Japan.

Considering the popularity of the tale, director Carl Rinsch (of The Gift fame) has certainly a big task in giving it an epic treatment while leaving scope for realistic depiction.

Synopsis:

Keanu Reeves makes an explosive return to action-adventure in 47 Ronin. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honor to their people.

Driven from their homes and dispersed across the land, this band of Ronin must seek the help of Kai (Reeves)—a half-breed they once rejected—as they fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape-shifting witchcraft, and wondrous terrors.
